#1.04 Trillion: FG Asks MTN Withdraw Court Case

The Federal Government of Nigeria has asked the South African telecommunication company MTN

to withdraw the court case it filed last year against the NCC and the Federal Government, challenging the #1.04 Trillion fine imposed on the company by the NCC Nigerian Communications Commissions, for failure to deactivate 5.1 million unregistered users, if the company wants an out of court settlement.
Barr. Adebayo Shittu, Minister for Communication Technology stated that the withdrawal of the suit is a precondition for any out of court settlement over the fine, which had already been reduced by 25% to #780 billion following some negotiations in November, 2015.
